Braces at M Dental Greenwich
Braces remain one of the most effective and dependable ways to straighten teeth and correct a bite, and at M Dental Greenwich we offer modern fixed braces from our practice on Harrison Walk in SE10. Today's braces are smaller, more comfortable and far more discreet than the ones many of us remember from school, and they can achieve results that are difficult to reach any other way.
Every case is planned and overseen by principal dentist Dr Tim Meskhi (GDC 151044), supported by digital X-rays and intraoral cameras so we can assess your teeth precisely and show you exactly what we are working towards. Our Greenwich clinic is a short walk from Island Gardens DLR and within easy reach of Cutty Sark DLR, Greenwich town centre and North Greenwich, so adjustment visits are simple to fit around work or study. We welcome patients of all ages from Blackheath, Deptford, New Cross and Maze Hill, and we offer flexible appointment times to make regular check-ins as easy as possible.
Understanding your braces options
Fixed braces work by attaching small brackets to your teeth and connecting them with a fine archwire. Gentle, continuous pressure guides the teeth into a healthier, straighter position over time, and because the braces stay on throughout, they keep working around the clock without relying on you to wear anything removable. Depending on your goals and how visible you would like your treatment to be, we can talk you through several options:
- Traditional metal braces — strong, reliable and often the most cost-effective choice for correcting more complex cases.
- Ceramic (tooth-coloured) braces — the brackets are made to blend with your natural teeth for a far less noticeable look.
- Braces for teenagers and adults — orthodontics is by no means only for children, and many of our brace patients are grown adults.
We use tooth-coloured and clear materials wherever suitable, and modern archwire technology means teeth can be moved efficiently and comfortably. If you would prefer a removable, near-invisible alternative, we also offer Invisalign clear aligners at our Greenwich practice and can compare the two options with you honestly.
Are braces right for you?
Braces are a brilliant solution for a broad range of orthodontic concerns, and they are frequently the best choice for cases that clear aligners cannot fully address. They are particularly well suited to:
- Significant crowding or overlapping teeth
- Larger gaps between the teeth
- More complex bite problems, including pronounced overbites, underbites and crossbites
- Teeth that are badly rotated or out of alignment
Because they are fixed in place, braces are ideal for anyone who would rather not rely on remembering to wear a removable device, including younger patients. They suit both teenagers and adults, and it is never too late to consider treatment.
Of course, braces are not the only path to a straighter smile. For milder cases, or for patients who particularly want a discreet, removable option, Invisalign may be a better fit. Where the concern is really the shape or colour of a tooth rather than its position, composite bonding or veneers might be more appropriate. At your consultation, Dr Meskhi will examine your teeth and set out the realistic options so you can choose the approach that suits your smile, your lifestyle and your budget.
What to expect at our Greenwich clinic
We aim to make every stage of braces treatment clear and comfortable:
- Assessment — Dr Meskhi examines your teeth and bite, takes digital X-rays and images, and discusses what you would like to achieve, along with a written plan and quote.
- Fitting — at your fitting appointment we bond the brackets to your teeth and place the archwire; this is painless and usually takes around an hour.
- Adjustments — you return roughly every four to eight weeks so we can adjust the wires and keep your teeth moving, with flexible slots available.
- Removal and retainers — once your teeth are beautifully aligned, we remove the braces and fit retainers to protect your new smile.
The length of treatment varies with each case, but most courses run for somewhere between twelve and twenty-four months. It is normal for teeth to feel a little tender for a few days after fitting and after each adjustment, and simple pain relief and soft foods make this easy to manage. Keeping your teeth and braces clean is important, so we will show you how to brush and floss effectively and may recommend seeing our hygienist during treatment. Wearing your retainers exactly as advised afterwards is essential to stop the teeth drifting back over time.
Braces prices in Greenwich & spreading the cost
Braces at M Dental Greenwich start from £4,195. The final cost depends on the type of braces you choose and the complexity of your case, and we will always give you a clear, written quote before treatment begins so you know exactly where you stand.
Your fee generally covers your assessment and planning, the fitting of your braces, your regular adjustment appointments and your retainers at the end of treatment. To help you invest in a healthier, straighter smile without straining your budget, we offer 0% finance, allowing you to spread the cost across comfortable monthly instalments. We are happy to go through the numbers with you at your consultation and find a payment plan that works for you.
